Basic Literacy Assessment Test, ‘ULLAS’ for Adults Scheduled on March 17
The state has achieved the target of enrollment of six lakhs
The Basic Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test ULLAS -Nav Bharat Literacy Program sponsored by the Central Government will be held in several states of the country, including Maharashtra, and other states. So far six lakh and twenty thousand illiterate people have registered online for the test. The central government and the administration are all set to examine all of them. Meanwhile, it is estimated that more than 5 lakh new literates will take the exam. At present, exams for 10th-12th students are also going on. So, grandparents along with grandchildren are currently engaged in studies.
The State Government has decided to implement the Ullas Nav Bharat Literacy Program from 2022 to 2027 as per the guidelines of the Central Government. By developing basic literacy (reading, writing) and numeracy among illiterate persons aged 15 years and above in the country.
Illiterate persons in the age group and above need to develop important life skills. These skills include financial literacy, legal literacy, digital literacy, disaster management skills, health care and awareness, childcare and education, family welfare, etc. Items included.
Vocational skills can be developed among students aged 15 years and above in the country as part of the continuous learning process for young adults with a view to local employment, re-skilling, and upskilling. It was implemented with the assistance of the concerned Ministries/Departments at the Center and State/UT levels.
According to the Maharashtra government, all state-level, district-level, group-level, and school-level committees have been established for the implementation of this program. The Chairman of the State Regulatory Council is the Minister of School Education, while the Chairman of the State Executive Committee is the Principal Secretary, of School Education. In this, the Chairman of the District Regulatory Council is the Collector and the Chairman of the District Executive Committee is the Chief Executive Officer (Zilla Parishad).
The School Management Committee/ School Management and Development Committee at the school level is responsible for this program. In this program, the facility for registration of illiterate people has been made available on the ULLAS app
It will be conducted offline in all the districts of Maharashtra as per the directives of the Central Government. Central Inspector Under Secretary Pradeep Heidau is on a tour of Maharashtra from March 16 to 18. Senior officials of the school education department will also be appointed as inspectors for each district in the state. Registered illiterates should go to that school on Sunday 17th March 2024 between 10 am to 05 pm and take the basic test.
Also, the Directorate of Education (Planning) has requested that schools, principals, teachers, centre heads, social workers, villagers, and volunteers make all necessary efforts to register illiterate persons present at the examination centre. The illiterate person should bring his/her ID card-size photograph to be affixed on the registration form while appearing for the examination
Also, as proof of date of birth illiterate person must bring any one of his Voter IDs/ Aadhaar Card/ PAN Card/ Bank Passbook etc., to fill in the information on the first page of the answer sheet as well as the illiterate examination. Exam timing will be from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. The duration of the actual paper will be 3 hours.
Rajesh Kshirsagar, deputy director of education, said that the exam will be conducted in an offline mode, which means that the candidates will be given a hard copy of the paper. Question paper and answer sheet will be combined. The examination will be conducted through Marathi medium. Only a black or blue ink pen should be used to write the information and answers in the answer sheet. It is advised not to use pencils or pens of different colours.
