From the last few days there has been chaos in the education field because of one incident which took place during The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam. Some girl students alleged they had to face an uncomfortable situation at their exam centres as they were asked to change their clothes in the open in Maharashtra.

As the same incident repeated in West Bengal where some girls were asked to change clothes. Unable to locate a clothes shop in the vicinity, some reportedly alleged that they were asked to strip, and their underwear checked.

After this shameful incident college authorities told the aspirants that they were not adhering to the dress code mandated by the National Testing Agency, which is why they had to comply with a last-minute change in attire. After this whole scenario there is huge discussion going on the subject of a particular dress code for a particular exam. Let's see if there is any such kind of dress code for an examination. 

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was conducted on May 7 for over 20 lakh medical students. Aspirants were instructed to follow certain guidelines and regulations set by the NTA to appear for the exam, including the dress code for NEET 2023. NEET exam dress code for females and males 2023, all male candidates were required to wore light-coloured half-sleeve shirts or t-shirts with trousers, while female candidates should wear light-coloured half-sleeve shirts and trousers.

As per the NEET UG 2023 dress code –

  • Candidates were not allowed to wear any shoes, sandals, or high heels. 
  • For females only slippers and low-heeled sandals were allowed.
  • Clothes worn by male candidates should be light i.e. zip pockets, pockets, big buttons and clothes with elaborate embroidery should not be there. 
  • Kurta pyjamas are not allowed. Trousers and simple pants were preferred.  
  • Shoes were strictly prohibited inside the examination hall. It was advisable that candidates should  wear sandals and chappals with thin soles.
  • Female candidates were advised not to wear clothes that have elaborate embroidery, flowers, brooches or buttons, No clothes with full arm-length sleeves, leggings, palazzo pants were also not allowed.
