State’s first space lab at Mulshi

The Heritage International School, based out of Mulshi in Pune district with an aim to help rural students get the taste of space and its instruments has created a Space laboratory.

Pune: Space creates curiosity among young and old alike. Although we can see the pictures and get information through pictures and text-books, a very few actually get to feel it. Especially the students from rural areas.

But now it will not be the case. The Heritage International School, based out of Mulshi in Pune district with an aim to help rural students get the taste of space and its instruments has created a Space laboratory.

The school with help from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s space tutor program under Vyomika Spe Academy has created this lab. The students will learn about the space programmes undertaken by ISRO, the satellite vehicle and many other things.

It is one of its kind laboratories. The laboratory will be inaugurated by renowned scientist Ragunath Mashelkar and space scientist T N Sureshkumar at Kasar Amboli in Mulshi taluka. School education minister Deepak Kesarkar and higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil too will be present.

The lab has replicas of SLV 3, ASLV, PSLV, GSLV D 1, GSLV MK 3, SSLV along with Chandryaan 1 , Mangalyaan 1. Besides that miniature models of Pushpakyaan, Garud viman, Gagan viman. Interestingly, the students can fly them with the help of a remote control too”, said founder president of the academy Govind Yadav and consulting member Pratik Mungekar.

Two telescopes too have been erected here so that students can learn about the night sky. The students will also be able to see a robot kit, light flowing kit, Bluetooth control robot, quardcorpter drone.

Various programs will be implemented throughout the year for the students. ISRO scientists will guide and give lectures to the students”, informed Mungekar.
