Controversy Surrounds Ramleela Play Staged at SPPU as Senate Member Calls for University to Bear Court Expenses

The controversial play staged at the Fine Arts Center of Savitribai Phule Pune University has sparked a debate on academic freedom. It raised many questions about whether faculty and students should have the liberty to express themselves without fear of retribution.

Dr. Harsh Jagtap, a Senate Member, has urged the university to cover all expenses related to the court proceedings stemming from this incident. This proposal, submitted to the general assembly, is anticipated to stir further discussion.

As the university prepares to present its budget for the upcoming fiscal year, scheduled for March 23, it must uphold its role as a bastion of knowledge and leadership.
