Delhi High Court: CBSE has no right to stop students from entering exam hall after issuing admit card
The court issued a notice to the board and directed it to file a reply within two weeks
The Delhi High Court has slammed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to stop a student from entering the examination hall after issuing the admit card. The petition was filed by the mother of a class 10 student who was not allowed to enter the exam hall on account of the later submission of a domicile certificate. The court also issued a notice to the board and directed it to file a reply within two weeks.
The court said, "It is unacceptable to not allow a student to enter the examination hall after issuing the admit card, it is inhumane. CBSE has no right to do so."
The court said that the student would be able to appear in all future examinations without any hindrance. The High Court clarified during the hearing that if any student other than the petitioner who is prevented from appearing in the examination due to late uploading of domicile certificate, cannot be prevented from appearing in the examination.
The court said, "CBSE has for the first time made a provision for domicile, which many students were not aware of. The petitioner had uploaded the examination form on October 3. The petitioner had applied for a domicile certificate in December 2023, after which he got the domicile on January 24. It could not be uploaded on the CBSE website till January 24, so the petitioner went to the CBSE office and submitted the domicile certificate on February 15."
