“The education department had received information that three schools in Pune city had obtained bogus no-objection certificates for starting CBSE schools. After that, a campaign was undertaken to verify the documents of all the schools in the state. Meanwhile, some schools in the district were closed by the education department without any approval from the government. It was learnt that there were 16 bogus schools but out of the 191 schools inspected in Pune by the Education Department revealed that many schools do not have any documents. Therefore, some more schools will be added in these 191 schools list taking the total number to new heights.

Many from the education department know about the bogus schools, but they do not take any action since these school owners have hand-in-glove with higher officials. If action is taken on time, there won’t be any bogus schools”,  an official of the education department told 'Eduvarta' on condition of anonymity.
