IIT Madras launches four-year BS course in medical sciences & technologies
The course offers an interdisciplinary approach in designing life-saving medical devices, drug discovery, artificial intelligence in medicine, and fundamental medical research.

In a first of its kind course in India, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has launched a four-year BS course in Medical Sciences and Technology. The course consists of under graduate programme in medical sciences and engineering.
In a press release issued by the institute, along with the four-year BS course, it also offers Ph.D programme, MS for doctors and MS in medical sciences and engineering along with Ph.D programme for science and engineering graduates.
The course offers an interdisciplinary approach in designing life-saving medical devices, drug discovery, artificial intelligence in medicine, and fundamental medical research. The department will train physicians to effectively apply technology in their clinical practice and lay the foundation for physician-scientists training in India.
The main aim of this initiative is to equip scientists and engineers with the necessary skills to advance medical research.
