A 15-year-old boy Utkarsh made a wireless electric vehicle charger to compete in a science competition. That electric vehicle charger proved so effective that Utkarsh has now been selected for NASA's Human Exploration Rover Challenge. He will soon visit NASA and he will work with the team.
Utkarsh hails from a small village in Dadri in Greater Noida, he is currently appearing for his 10 exams from the Utter Pradesh (UP) Board. In January he participated in a science competition and made a wireless electric vehicle charger by spending just Rs 150. IAS officer Manish Kumar Verma was the chief guest of the competition, Verma was highly impressed by Uttkarsh's work and he recommended the young boy be part of the team that made the rover.
The rover will participate in NASA's Human Exploration Rover Challenge and Utkarsh will visit NASA. The total expense incurred in this project was just Rs 150. However, other students who participated in the competition spent up to Rs1 lakh.
The prodigy child comes from a very humble background. He lost his father when he was very young. His father died of a brain haemorrhage. His grandfather Surendra Singh earns his living from agriculture. Utkarsh accompanies his grandfather and helps him on the farm. Utkarsh's sheer determination and hard work paved his way to NASA. Utkarsh studies in a government school and he aspires to become an engineer. He is reflecting a ray of hope for the people coming from underprivileged backgrounds.
