Schools standing in queue for RTE fee reimbursement

State owes 1700 crore

Schools standing in queue for RTE fee reimbursement

Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, the school education department of the state has approved a fund of 13 crores 94 lakhs for duty reimbursement of students studying in private schools. The government owes about seventeen hundred crores of RTE fee reimbursement and it is increasing every year. Due to this, the authorities are accusing the government of not being serious enough. Under RTE, free education is provided to students in the age group of 6 to 14 years in the state. Till now about 7 lakh 11 thousand students have been admitted to various schools in the state. However, the state government is expected to pay the fee reimbursement amount for the students admitted to these schools.

On March 15, an ordinance has been announced to approve a fund of 13 crore 94 lakh 70 thousand rupees for RTE. Ravindra Chorge said, “More than seven lakh students are studying under RTE. However, even one per cent of the outstanding amount is not sanctioned by the government for distribution to the schools.

This shows how serious the government is about RTE students. It is expected that the government should pay the fee reimbursement amount of the institutes soon.”

This year's budget was 200 crores. Two hundred crores were divided into four parts. 36 crores were to be given for the first time, 61 crores in the second phase, 61 crores in the third phase and fourth stage about 13 crores were sanctioned.  200 was sanctioned in the financial budget while 1700 crore was due. Out of which, only 70 to 80 crores have been allocated to institutions. 120 crores are still left.
